Cartoon is an appropriate medium for the Jews for Jesus message. Your content lacks maturity and intellectual substance, and your perceptions of Jews and Judaism are, well, cartoonish.
And I guess I don’t have a major problem with gentiles tickling one anothers’ fancies by publishing cartoonish images of my people, as long as it doesn’t lead to the next Christian anti-Semitic atrocity, but I do think that Jews would do themselves a huge favor by getting a real understanding of their religion from real Jewish sources, as in traditional rabbis, as opposed the cartoonish Christianity-lite that these JFJ cartoons portray.
Great question, admin! Just who is this Jesus figure?
Jesus is the man whom Christians worship as a god in contravention of Numbers 23:19 in the Jewish Bible (“G-d is not a man”). But more specifically, Jesus is the character Christians insist was the sired by G-d but somehow still qualified, in their own assessment, as the messiah prophesied by the Jewish Bible to be a patrilineal descendant of King David. The other way we know Jesus is that he’s the one who didn’t fulfill any of the Jewish Bible’s messianic prophecies, but whom Christians still call the messiah. Since the time Christians say Jesus lived, death and war have continued unabated, the Temple in Jerusalem was knocked down, the Jewish people were exiled into the diaspora, and the world divided into camps of violently disagreeing, mutually exclusive religions with the rise of Christianity and Islam.
Thanks for the response Charley/Milt. What do other people think about this? Do you guys agree that Numbers 23:19 says that God would never appear to us in the form of a man? Please consider the whole verse and chapter for context…
Numbers 23:19 NASB – “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
We must be very careful when pulling one phrase out of scripture. Numbers 23:19 clearly means that God is not changeable like humans are. If He says it, He does it, and does not change his mind.
As for whether or not Jesus is God. I have issues with that. I believe God had two, what we call, sons before the earth was made. One son got full of himself and tried to convince the angels to follow him. One third of the angels did follow him. The only possible thing for God to do was to destroy them because sin leads to ultimate destruction of everything. Sin cannot exist in God’s presence. The other son stepped in and asked for an alternative. God sort of said “OK, they are yours, you take care of them”. So the plan of salvation was devised.
(Now the some of the details get sort of fuzzy, details are like that when you are human, trying to explain the Godly) 1/3 of the fallen angels repented then. The big bang happened, the evil son was confined to this fabulous planet (kind of like a white colar prison) and the repentance and salvation of the 2/3 of the fallen angels that did not repent began.
So is Jesus God? I have issues with calling him that, but for us he sort of is. He is the highest heavenly being next to God the Father, we were given into his care, he gave himself to be our sacrifice for our sins. What more could we ask, except–please help me Y’shua, I am a sinner and need you to help me be a better person so I can be a better heavenly person when we get back there.
Ann, thanks for sharing your thoughts about God and Jesus. It is very interesting what you are sharing, and while not everything that you are talking about is covered in the Bible, a number of the things you said contradict what is written in the Bible. Can you supply scriptures for your position? Jesus himself claimed to be God in the New Testament and the Messiah is described as being God Himself as well in the Old Testament.
Here is a great resource for references: http://carm.org/jesus-god. Here are a few examples: John 8:58, “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” (Jesus is referencing Exodus 3:14 and applying it to himself.)
This portrays Jews in a stereotypical and simplistic way. I know you’re trying to convert Jews to Christianity, and so you’re trying to show some parts of Jewish culture to appeal to Jews, but your slightly charicature-ish portrayal of Jews probably says more about why your organizations and founders converted to Christianity than it says why Jews should convert.
The reason why Jews should believe in Jesus is because he is the Jewish Messiah. If he wasn’t then he is not the savior of the Gentiles either. Who do you think Jesus is?
I love this cartoon. Thank all the production staff and thank you Lord for the inspiration. This Is an instrument to teach the Jews & the Gentiles. That through this site the Lord God Almighty, reach the hearts of all those Jews who have not received Yeshua as Savior. My heart is glad when I see all who are saved in Israel and the nations. That wonderful Name of the Lord be blessed and exalted high.
I find your cartoons, ineffective and by the writings of the Jewish people – evidently they are not appreciating the childish
information you are giving them. i believe Jesus Christ is lord and themessiah of Israel and the world – believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved – simple message and by grace in God – we come to the understanding of
message – teach that and you will see many saved.
this is an abomination. how dare any outsider come to me and improperly translate the original hebrew bible to suit his wishes!
how dare j for j target ignorant jews who dont realize that they are merely being played as pawns in a game of the church on a mission to convert more jews , simply for the purpose of maintaining the “validity” that jesus (dont call him yeshu to make him sound jewish) is the Jewish Messiah!!!!!
million $ bet YOU -Emmanuel (“again, what a lovely jewish name…”) DO NOT have the SLIGHTEST IDEA what a god means
I have grown up Christian, aside from rumors of German Jewish heritage, I am from a long line of gentile believers. I am studying at a Bible college where we regularly recognize the Jewish heritage of Christianity…kind of hard to ignore when over half the Christian Bible contains the Torah, Nevi’im, and Kethuvim. A lot of the comments I have read make me sad…it is sad to see the chosen people not accepting messiah. The Kosher Joe cartoon help me understand a little more of the Jewish culture and makes me want to understand more. I think Kosher Joe can be a fun way to bridge the gap between Jews and Christians. And for those Jews who think all Christians are out there plotting their next attack on Jews you are vary much mistaken because a Christian who would do such a thing is a fake worshiping a false god and needs to repent and come to know the true messiah who came in peace to bring peace maybe not an end to war but a peace a midst the war. The end of war I believe will come when he returns for all who believe in him. Romans 10:1 Brothers, my heart’s deepest desire and my prayer to God for Isra’el is for their salvation;
I would like to know how many other people feel the same way as Marilyn. Did not Jesus say “and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3 (and no this content is not intended for children, just adults with child-like hearts (not minds).

I would like to hear from these “ignorant Jews” you are refering to because I would tell them that you should never take scriptures out of context or mistranslate original Hebrew. Also I will be the first one to tell them that we cannot convert anyone, nor would we want to. If the message of Jesus is true, then He will reveal it to each person individually.

Here are a few interesting Messianic Prophecies to consider in light of the issues you raised:
1) How can Jesus be the Messiah when he didn’t bring peace?
2) When will the Messiah come according to the scriptures?
